Following the recent events of violence, unrest and rioting which has flared up in parts of the
UK. We understand as insurance brokers that this is a concern for all and some of our clients
which may have properties and businesses that are potentially at risks by these events.
We are always here to assist in any way we can. Please rest assured that your claims service remains unchanged. If you have been affected by these events or had operational disruptions in your business as a result of the riots, please notify us of your claim as soon as possible.
Please note, with reference to the Riot Compensation Act 2016 (RCA), all claims for riots must first be notified, with supporting evidence of a riot, as per Section 1 of the Public Order Act 1986, to a local claims authority, i.e. the Police and Crime Commissioner. You will be provided with a crime reference number which will be required as part of your claim.
So that we are correctly following the RCA procedure, all claims must be submitted within 42 days from the date of the riot. Within 90 days from when your claim was notified, all evidence in support of your claim will need to be provided if you had not already done so.
We will work closely with you and your insurers and provide regular updates on your claim.
